Do's And Don'ts in Charity

Charity is praiseworthy, but it should be done without any self-publicity. The Sastra says that in proclaiming one"s own charity, the punya or merit of the deed will be lost. It is God"s grace that brings us prosperity (aishwarya). It would be most appropriate to use it in the service of God and for doing good to others. On the contrary, it will be folly to develop pride and misuse our wealth. However rich one may be, he should avoid the feeling of pride and conduct himself in the right way.
